To understand how the needs of the users were being met with and existing charging station apps we did a competitive analysis. It also helped us to defined the market gaps and opportunities as well as get inspired with best practices.

Qualitative
We have interviewed 5 people who are using electric vehicles in their daily life, and asked open end questions to give them chance to talk more out their experience. It helped us to understand their needs, behaviours, motivation and frustrations.

Findings
Most of the users are working profssional who owns two wheelers and prefer to charge at home.
Comparing to other users prefers less to charge at charging stations.
Nearest charging station is far from home.
Users normally spend 1hr to 1hr 30mins at charging station.
People are comfortable to charge at other places.
Sometimes users find it difficult to find their charging connector.
Apps used by users: Bolt, Charzer, Kazam, TATA power and Charge grid.
Quantitative
This research was done to gather more information from Ev users for better understanding and to get the general picture of EV charging process.

We have created empathy map to understand what the users feels, says, thinks and does with the insights from the user interview.

Persona
Gaurav is a calm and intelligent Phd scholar, is currently working as a professor at university. He lives in Bangalore with family. He use EV for his daily commute to work, although he enjoy his EV, he gets frustrated quite often with it too. He loves to go road trips with his family, but it becomes really challenging for him to locate fast charging station. Gaurav wants a solution that will reduce his pain points and enhance his EV driving experience.

Plotting a list of possible features onto a graph helped us to narrow down what was absolutely crucial for delivering. All of the features were plotted in the graph graph after having discussion with team members, taking account that features are high or low valued and if it is required high or low efforts. Each member gives their opinion on the features they believes are most important and effective.

Keeping our personas in mind in the given situation, this user flow displays the steps and actions by the user to execute the intended task flow effectively.

We conducted moderate usability study with potential users and allowed them to use the app. We gave them a few tasks and recieved some feedbacks from the users.
Goals
- Is the user able to understand the basic function and purpose of the service or not?
- Is the user able to complete the given tasks efficiently or not?
- Collect the insights on their behaviour while they are performing the tasks.
- What are the improvements can be added.
Observation
Overall, the participants felt app was simple and easy to understand. A few features like selecting charging services and booking details are appreciated, and the users didn’t face many problems completing the tasks, although there were some usability issues noted.
Methodology
- Moderate usability study
- Location: Remote, Chennai.
- Each session will last 10 mins and will include a list of tasks and a questionnaire following study
- Three participants are chosen for the study. Each one has an individual online session
- 4 Participants within the age bracket of 24-50
